Breakfast in La Jolla

So a couple of weeks ago, my cousin, my sister and I went on a "girls weekend" to La Jolla.  Little did my sister know that her boyfriend would be out there to propose to her.  It was awesome. Perfect. Romantic. I must say, that my cousin (Karla) and I are quite the brilliant masterminds!  In my sister's words our "lying abilties are crazy."  I would love to share with you guys the video and pictures of the actual proposal. . .but my sister would kill me.  Therefore, I'm going to blog about the one other highlight to our weekend. . . BRUNCH!

If you are ever in the La Jolla/San Diego area, you must stop by The Cottage.  So cute, so quaint, and oh so good.

The indoor dining area is only about the size of my family room. From what I hear it's always hopping, but they are very quick at getting you in.  If you do have to wait some, they have complimentary coffee and their fresh made coffee cake to munch on.  Yummy!

Mimosas....yum.

The fresh made scones were heavenly! So light and just melted in your mouth.  I saved some of mine to take on the road, and then forgot it on the table!  I was so bummed!  My tastebuds were looking forward to more.  The portions are pretty good size, so Karla and I ordered an eggs and bacon platter and the order of french toast and split them.  The french toast were SO good! Light, fluffy, melted in your mouth! Now that's what french toast should taste like!

The happy couple

The girls

I can't wait to go back, but until then, I'll have to see if I can find a place in Phoenix to compare!  If anyone knows of any let me know!

CAKE POPS

Alright, I thought I'd start with something simple.  My cake pop adventures!  A couple of years ago, I was looking for ideas for Sofia's birthday party and I came across cake pops on the Disney Family website.  It was submitted by someone named Bakerella. I followed the link to her website and I was hooked! How could someone make such cute confections?!  I just had to try.

My first attempts...
I forgot to add Mr. Potato Head's eyebrows!
But Hamm turned out pretty good.

My friend at work and I both love Hello Kitty, so when I saw these on Bakerella's site, I just had to try them.

Meow!

My future brother-in-law is a big KC Chiefs fan, so I made these special for his birthday.  It's just too bad they're not doing so hot this year.  Not even my cake pops brought them luck on Sunday! Sorry Jeff!
My first original idea

Well, that's it for now.  I made some really cute Christmas ones after I tried the Toy Story pops, but I didn't get any good pictures of them.  Maybe I'll try them again this year!

Introductions

Here they are. My two beautiful girls. My reasons for being.

Sofia

and Natalia
Like I said, they will probably be the subject of many posts to come.

Sofia, is my three, soon-to-be 40 year old.  She is much too sassy for her own good.
Natalia, my baby, she's 15 months.  She doesn't say much yet, but she can definitely hold her own against her big sis.  Lately, it's HER making Sofia cry! Ha Ha, I warned you Sofia!

They're both extremely sweet and most definitely mommy's girls.   Not to say that Daddy doesn't get any lovin', but there's nothing like the bond between a mommy and her daughter.

Anyhow, more on my sweet girls later!

Here I go!

Ok, so here I go. I'm finally starting my own blog.  People keep telling me I should better document all the crafts and parties I put together, so I'm gonna give it a go.  So here's a little background on me:

I am married to the love of my life, Daniel. We have two beautiful children, Sofia and Natalia, who are most likely soon-to-be the subject of many a post. They keep my life interesting to say the least!

By day, I'm a nurse and by night I moonlight as party planner extraordinaire!  Ha, ha, I wish! I still consider myself pretty amateur.  The extent of my experience consists of planning my own wedding and that of several friends and family members, as well as my children's birthday parties.  It is, however, something I truly enjoy, and hope to get better at.

I've always liked crafting.  I got into scrapbooking several years ago, thinking "This will be fun!" and "What a great way to archive your memories."  Almost 10 years later, I have have yet to complete a single scrapbook!  Ha ha.  Needless to say, I've come to realize that a crafter I AM, a scrapbooker I AM NOT.  I prefer to create my scrapbooks digitally...a lot less work and much neater!

I prefer to stretch my creative juices with specific projects in a variety of areas.  From card/invitation making to baking.  I have to mention right now that Bakerella is awesome!  I owe my cake pop addiction to her.

Hopefully this blog will serve as an outlet for my creative ventures.   Stay tuned because there's more to come soon!
